WSHPA Membership Fall Meeting

Lansing, MI - September 3, 2005


Meeting called to order by President Ron Kohn at 7:00 pm.


Minutes from Spring meeting were read by Secretary Dan Markley, motion to accept minutes made by Gary Dennis, seconded by Dewey Howard except for a change in the minutes to read Bob Mullenhour to retire as assistant regional director.


Marty Quillen, Treasurer, read report as to money spent. Dean Schmitz asked about Junior fund; Marty said they were in the red with the Junior Fund. Bob Carr asked if that was ok; Marty said funds were about the same as last year. Dewey asked that the report be put on file; seconded by John Decker.

1st Vice President, Judy Dennis, had nothing to report; 2nd Vice President, Dean Schmitz, reported that there were no grievances.


Dan Markley reported that we had 38 new members and less of the old members.


Dewey Howard reported that the Hall of Fame committee met in June in Kalamazoo and will announce the next day as to who the inductee are.


Dave Loop, Publicity Director, stated that he sent 24 Ringer Reports to newspapers and only one responded and would be at the Lincoln Parks Tournament. He would like every member to tell every one they know about the website or give them Dave’s number or tell newspapers about the site.


Kevin Smith had nothing to say about the Junior Fund except to please help support it.


Steve Summerlin reported that the World Tournament will be in Gillette Wyoming in 2006; Ardmore, Oklahoma in 2007 and Decatur, Alabama in 2008.


Ron Kohn wanted to thank everyone for their support as president and that so far the State Tournament was going well.


Judy Dennis read the proposals and results were:

Proposal 1 Defeated

Proposal 2 Defeated

Proposal 3 Defeated

Section 11 passed amended to read “both players”

Proposal 4 Withdrawn

Proposal 5 Defeated 10 tournaments directors stated leave it at $10.00, but some tournament can charge more if they advertise ahead of time on certain tournaments.

Proposal 6 Defeated


Nomination for Secretary; Debbie Markley nominated by Patty Ingraham, Roger Higgins nominated by Dave Loop. Dave Loop moved to close nomination. Roger declined; Debbie by acclamation.


Larry Ingraham nominated Marty Quillen for treasurer, nominations closed. Marty accepted; Marty is Treasurer by acclamation.

Report on Good and Welfare by Bob Wells. There was $2854.50 raised by St Jude, down by a $150.00 from last year. Passed out St Jude shirts for people earning them.

Bob Carr thanked everyone for their help with the State Tournament.

Ron Kohn adjourned the meeting.
