WSHPA Membership Meeting

State Championships, Kalamazoo, MI

August 31, 2002

 

 

President Loop called meeting to order.

Bill Tedrick made a motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting as printed. Approved.

Many Quillen, Treasurer reported that $7,910.00 is currently in the Treasure account. Jerry Shene made a motion to place report on file for audit. Motion approved.

Patty Ingraham, 2nd vice-president reported no grievance at this time.

Dewey Howard, Hall of Fame Chair announced that 2 members would be inducted into the Hall of Fame on

Sunday.

Dean Schmitz, Publicity Chair had nothing to report at this time.

Bob Wells reported that $1,211.90 was raised/or 2002. This makes a grand total of $15,639.46.

Mike Ardelean raised $688.00 for 2002.

Steve Summerlin reported that all officers and tournament directors must subscribe to Newsline.

This proposal was passed at the World Tournament meeting.

Dave Loop reported that 2003 State Tournament would be held at Kalamazoo.

Dan Markley Ist vice-president, read the only proposal.

Beginning 2003 and for a 3-year trial, the WSHPA will allow up to 8 tournaments to be played on courts other than clay. On a date that such a tournament is played, there will be a clay tournament scheduled. These tournaments must be at least 60 miles from a current club that has clay. These clubs must adhere to all other WSHPA guidelines

They will be scheduled at the scheduling meetings. In order for these tournaments to continue, they must add new members to the NHPA. A committee of president, secretary, regional director, and two appointed WSHPA members will report at each scheduling meeting of gains and results of these newly scheduled tournaments.

Dean Schmitz would like names of clubs from the north and western part of Michigan.

Kevin Smith reported the scholarship committee is working on a Junior Scholarship Program.

Dave Loop and Ron Kohn were nominated for President.

Dave Loop declined and Ron Kohn accepted.

Ron Kohn is president by acclamation.

Bob Mullenhour, Patty Ingraham, Dan Markley, Kevin Smith and Dean Schmitz were nominated for Ist vice

president.

Dan Markley and Dean Schmitz declined.

Bob, Patty and Kevin accepted.

Patty Ingraham was elected 1st vice-president.

Kevin Smith and Bob Mullenhour were nominated for 2nd vice president.

Both accepted.

Kevin Smith was elected 2nd vice president.

Motion was made to destroy the ballots. Motion passed.

A Thank you and a round of applause were given to Dave Loop for his years of service as 1st vice president and president.

Motion was made to adjourn.
