
WILLIAM TEDRICK Jonesville, MIBill started pitching horseshoes where he grew up in Guernsey, Ohio where he met and married his wife, Wanda. They have six children: Maresa, Melinda, Charles, Ben, David and Eric. All are married with a total of 19 grandchildren and one great-grandson. His professional career included one-year teaching and 35 years with the Cooperative Extension Service in Ohio, Michigan and Texas, where he served as a county extension Service agent, 4-H program specialist and department head. He earned degrees from Ohio State University, University of Maryland and Michigan State University. Bill has been a member of the NHPA since 1983 with 17 of those years in the WSHPA Charter. He served as publicity chairman for two years. During his tenure in Michigan he played in over 1,600 games including state and world tournaments as well as some games in other states. He has participated in the state championship tournament 17 years, attended 12 world tournaments and 10 Michigan-Ontario Friendship tournaments. He was class champion at the World Tournament in Biloxie, MS and Red Deer, BC. He is a member of the Jackson County Horseshoe Club where he is a Life Member. He has participated in the club's league since 1990. In 2001, Bill developed and managed a National Membership Survey for the NHPA. The results of the survey have been used by the NHPA executive council to assist in program management decisions. He also served on the Internet Membership Committee. He has donated over $1,000 to the National Horseshoe Pitchers Foundation and supported the Jackson Horseshoe Club with funds to provide the first year WSHPA/NHPA membership dues for five new members and funds for five more. Bill supports the WSHPA Youth Fund with cash donations. At the local level in Hillsdale County, he is serving as coordinator and record keeper for the Hillsdale County Horseshoe Club that conducts a summer league program involving some 35 pitchers. The club conducts daily horseshoe tournaments at the Hillsdale County Fair each fall. In 2005 the fair sponsored seven tournaments involving 117 pitchers during the week. He formally organized the club in 2003. He has posted several messages on the NHPA Internet website message board over the past years. He has kept a computerized database of all the games he has played since 1989. Bill says that the WSHPA and horseshoes are an important part of his life over the years. The WSHPA membership is proud to have Bill as a member of the WSHPA Hall of Fame. |
