
PAULA SUMMERLIN Webberville, MI Started Attending Tournaments in 1987 as a spectator only. Kept score at both the 1987 and
1988 State Championships in Dimondale for every game. (If I remember correctly) Attended my first World Tournament in 1988 (again as a spectator only) at Pleasanton, California""Became a member in July of 1989, pitching my first tournament in Dimondale on July 2nd and placed 3rd in my group, (Qualified at 36% and averaged 29.2%). Pitched in my second tournament in Harrison the end of July and won my first tournament in a play-off with Paul Waatti, (Can remember it like it was yesterday ,,,, guess you always remember your first time..) After that I was hooked. Decided then and there I would never be just a spectator again. 1989 - Pitched in my first State Championship Placed 4th in Class B Attended the World Tournament in Spearfish, S.D. 1990 - Joined the Dimondale League Did league stats for one or two years Placed 3rd in Class B at, second State Championships. 1991 - Became 2nd Vice-President of WSHPA Chairman of Grievance and Credentials Committee Received Women's Most Improved Award for 1991 1992 - Became Secretary of WSHPA Began working with a programmer and Fred Smith to design a program to keep track of stats and run tournaments on site.
1993 - WSHPA Secretary1994 - WSHPA Secretary Became Editor of the Ringer Report Placed 6th in State Championships Class B 1995 - WSHPA Secretary Tied for 1st Place in Class B State Championships (lost in playoff, taking second place) 1996 - No Office Held - Membership Committee Chairperson Missed State Championship due to foot injury. Began to learn to program, making improvements to the stats program. Received Women's Most Improved Award for 1996
1997 - 2nd Vice-President Chairperson of Grievance & Credentials and Membership Committees 2nd Place in Class B State ChampionshipsAttended World Tournament in Kitchener, Ontario 1998- 2nd Vice-President 3rd in State Championships Class B Attended and worked at the Ainsworth World Tournament with Steve in the Shoe check-in 1999 - 1st Vice - President / Statistician for WSHPA Continued modifying the program, made it possible to print round robin cards for a tournament with opponents names on it, eliminating the need of purchasing the round robin cards.... Added several report choices, able to print a report on just about anything you might want to know about a tournament or pitcher. Attended and worked at the Greenville World Tournament with Steve in the Shoe check-in and as a Shift runner. 2nd place in State Championships Class B 2000 - 1st Vice-President Attended and worked at the Bismarck, North Dakota World Tournament as a Shift Runner for Steve. Have begun working with a windows based software to convert our program to a windows program. Will take a some time to complete this task. 2001 - Appointed editor of the NHPA magazine "Horseshoe Pitching NEWSLINE" 2004 - Recipient of the "Presidential" Award from the NHPA for "Outstanding Service and Dedication Promoting Horseshoe Pitching at the State and National Level". General: Ladies Auxiliary (Not sure what year I took it over) till 2004. Attends most tournaments/with computer doing stats.

Work with computer program on a continuing basis, making many improvements in the last few years, making it one of the most complete programs in the national.Attended World tournaments in 2001, 02, 03, 04 as shift worker. |
