
BOYD STONEROCK Lawton, MIBoyd started his career in horseshoe pitching by pitching in a backyard league in 1981. He also joined the WSHPA and NHPA in 1981. He started going to tournaments at this time and really got hooked on pitching
Boyd was State class F1 champion in 1983 and class D-1 in 1985.He placed 4th in his class in 1985 at the world tournament held at Lafayette, IN. He has attended 14 world tournaments over the last 18 years. Boyd has pitched in many state tournaments, Michigan-Ontario Friendship tournaments and also the Midwest tournament. He held many positions in the Kalamazoo Area Horseshoe Club (KAHC). He was on the membership committee, publicity director, assistant tournament director, Michigan-Ontario committee when held in Kalamazoo and tournament prep committee. He was Assistant Regional Director for Michigan for a time prior to his buyout of the WSHPA horseshoe inventory. He had to resign at that time. Boyd sold horseshoes and became the NHPA distributor for the state of Michigan in 1996. He was also NHPA horseshoe distributor for the state of Minnesota for a while.
He has traveled to many states from Minnesota to South Carolina and stopped at most states in between to attend tournaments and distribute horseshoes. He has helped many pitchers; some novice, some experienced advising them on what shoes to buy. Boyd has been generous with his sales and spread a lot of good will and promoting horseshoes for many years. He has made donations for junior trophies at most state tournaments. He also helps with a donation to the Team World and Music City competitions. Boyd has made a big contribution to the game of Horseshoe. ![]()
