JAMES A OSTRANDER JR       Lansing, MI

inducted 1969

James and IreneJim started pitching at the age of 17 in the WSHPA, He was a class A pitcher and always a tough contender.

He pitched in many world tournaments and qualified for the championship class twice.

Jim was Class AA Champion in 1965.

Jim was runner up to the state champ in the state championships in 1968.

He has won many district tournaments and was runner up in the Water Wonderland Open twice.

Jim was a member of the Dimondale Club and a dedicated worker. Later he was a member of the Chief Okemos Club.

Jim was the 1st Vice President of the WSHPA for two years. He has served on many committees and done his share of score keeping.

Jim passed away in 1977 and had a court dedicated to his memory at the Chief Okemos Club courts.

Mrs James Ostrander snips ribbon during dedication of court honoring memory of her husband (who died last September) at Wolverine State championships being held at Chief Okemos Sportsman's Club grounds, Dimondale. Pat Smith spokesman says the court will be used for ties.
