VICTOR BENSON       Detroit, MI

Vic joined the WSHPA in 1963 and pitched in the state tournament that same year.

He was a charter member of the Dimondale Club, Organized in 1964.
He served one year as the vice president of the WSHPA.
He appointed James Compton to succeed Marge Buehler as secretary of the WSHPA who resigned after 1 of 2 years in term

Vic served on a special committee to revise the WSHPA constitution. The constitution was revised to what it is today.
He had Bob Marsh constructed three portable courts used in the first state tournaments hosted by the Dimondale club in 1965.

Vic has participated in local promotion such as an exhibition staged at the Lansing Mall, pitching in the Dimondale homecoming parade and supervised court construction and maintenance of courts and equipment at the Chief Okemos Sportsman Club.

Vic helped plan two horseshoe clinics sponsored by the Chief Okemos Club.

Hew was tournament director at Chief Okemos and was treasurer of the horseshoe division of the summer handicap league.

He has pitched in many district tournaments and won many titles in his class.

he has helped with the book work and statistics in many Chief Okemos Club tournaments, and was always a willing score keeper. He was a dedicated member and will be missed by all who knew him.
