RALPH BACON Grand Rapids, MI
Ralph was a long time pitcher in the WSHPA.He was the runner up to Roy Smith in the state tournaments in 1962 held at the Chip Wood Inn in Grand Rapids, MI. He won Class AA at the state tournament in 1972. In those days he was a real tough competitor and could toss an 80% plus at you. He was an organizer and a great promoter in the greater Grand Rapids area. He was the technical advisor for the indoor courts in the Godwin recreational building in Grand Rapids. Ralph pitched in many WSHPA tournaments as well as the M-46 league. He was a willing score keeper. He usually pitched in the middle sixties and won several district tournaments.
