Tucson Club Members Win At World's
Don Ferris, a Tucson Horseshoe Club tournament director, took 1st place in Class G, at the World Horseshoe Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in July 2010. Don pitched a 33% ringer percentage, 6% points above is average. His won-loss record was 14-1.
He received a trophy and $500. Congratulations, Don!
Local member, Ron Buckley, participated in the 2015 World Horseshoe Tournament in Topeka, Kansas. Ron finished 5th in Elder Class D. He was 10-5 with a ringer percentage of 49.17.
"The Tucson Horseshoe Pitchers' Club proudly announces that one its members, Galen DeWitt, just won the 2017 Senior Class D championship at the World Horseshoe Pitching Championships in St. George, Utah. He finished with 12.5 wins and 2.5 losses, and averaged a 32.7 ringer percentage."
Bret Brings Home Gold
Local member, Dennis Bret won two gold medals at the World Police and Fire Championships held in Los Angeles, California on August 10-11th, 2017. In singles, Dennis was 8-2, which included a high game of 52.5%. In doubles, he teamed with Nelson LaPan, of Scottsdale, Arizona to win his second gold medal. Dennis has been an officer with the Pima County Sheriff's Department for 23 years. We thank him for his dedicated service, and we are very proud of his longtime local club membership.
