NSHPA Meeting Minutes
ATTENDEES:
Twenty-Four (24) 2006 NSHPA Members
LOCATION:Tonopah

26, 2006.
- DON WEAVER opened the meeting.
- Tonopah Club was
introduced as the Tonopah Horseshoe Chuckers.
- CHAR SCHULTE passed around copies of the 05-06
Financial Report. CHAD HYATT motioned to accept the 05-06 Financial Report
as presented. DAVE CHEYNE second
the motion. The vote was unanimous.
- DON WEAVER stated he had schedule details for
2007 Tournaments in Beatty, Nevada.
- DAVE CHEYNE introduced a
new tournament, Western Open, to be held in Mesquite, Nevada, on November 13th
through November 16th sponsored by the Virgin River Hotel &
Casino.
Tournament play will be at the
courts behind the Convention Center. $50
entry fee and $29.99 room rates $600 to
be paid to 1st place in Class A and $250 to be paid to 1st
place in all other classes.
- The patch program was discussed and are being
ordered by DON WEAVER for 10 year increments for those members qualifying.
- CHAD HYATT discussed with the members a program flyer for
the the NHPF(National Horseshoe
Pitchers Foundation) Hall of Fame in Missouri Park which is building for the future while preserving the
past and showcasing the present.
To
purchase a 4 X 8 brick the cost is $100. To purchase an 8 X 8 brick the cost was $200.
CHAD proposed NSHPA purchase an 8 X 8 size brick to represent
Nevada.The brick will be engraved.
NANCY SALAZAR motioned NSHPA purchase an 8 X
8 brick.
DON GORE second the motion.The vote was unanimous.
- DON WEAVER stated the
need for the number of tournaments and names and dates for the 2007 Tournaments
in Mesquite, Las Vegas, Reno, and Tonopah.
- CHAD HYATT discussed changes to the amendment of Nevada
Bylaws. They are as follows:
ARTICLE VIII: Sanctioned Tournaments. SECTION 1.
CHAD HYATT proposed we have Nevada By-Laws read as
National By-Laws do.
NEAL SCHULTE motioned to accept the change as
stated.
SCOTT HARDY second the motion.
The vote was unanimous.
ARTICLE VII: Meetings. SECTION 3.
CHAD HYATT proposed we change to:
A quorum for the annual meeting shall be 51% of
the total number of participants attending the Annual NSHPA Meeting.
NEAL
SCHULTE motioned to accept the change as stated.
RUSS HALL, SR. second the motion.
The vote was unanimous

ARTICLE III: Membership. SECTION 3.
CHAD
HYATT proposed NSHPA add $1 to membership dues thus donating $1 to NHPF
(National Horseshoe Pitchers Foundation).
The
vote was unanimous.

DAVE CHEYNE suggested trading pins from Nevada funded
by NSHPA as others give at World Tournaments.
Discussion was opened:
NANCY
SALAZAR thought it shouldn’t be funded by NSHPA, as not all are able to attend
World Tournaments.
LOIS PRIHEPA
suggested it was good will.
GAIE SHOMAN
said it made her feel good when she received trading pins from others.
NEAL SCHULTE suggested the issue be tabled
until an answer on funding is available.
DREW SALAZAR will check with the Visitors Authority.
- Venues for the 2007 Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching
Championships were put on the table.
GENO DAWSON moved to have the 2007 Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Championships
held in Tonopah.
VIRGIL BIRGEN
second the motion.
No other
locations were put up for voting.
The
vote was unanimous to put the 2007 Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Championships
in Tonopah.
The 2007 Nevada State
Horseshoe Pitching Championships will be held the last weekend in August before
Labor Day on September 2, 2007, with a HI-LO Doubles Tournament the day
before on September 1, 2007.

Elections for President
and a Southern Vice President were opened for nominations.
NEAL SCHULTE nominated SCOTT HARDY for Southern
Vice President.
FRANK MERCADANTE second
the nomination.
SCOTT HARDY received a
unanimous vote for Southern Vice President.
DON WEAVER nominated CHAR SCHULTE for Secretary/Treasurer.
FRANK BLAZEK second the nomination.
CHAR SCHULTE received a unanimous vote for Secretary/Treasurer.

DON WEAVER announced he
would appoint a Regional Director the day prior to elections in 2007 and would
decline the President position if nominated.
