NSHPA Meeting Minutes
ATTENDEES: Twenty-Five (25) 2005 NSHPA Members
plus Five (5) non-members and/or significant others
LOCATION: Tonopah Station-Ramada Inn; Tonopah, Nevada
DATE: August 27, 2005.
- DON WEAVER opened the meeting.
- The World Tournament participants from Nevada were recognized for playing in Bakersfield, California, in 2005. A list was made available for viewing.
- A special thanks was offered to FRANK BLAZEK, JIM OLPIN, and KEN JOSE for organizing/donating to the 2005 Nevada State Championships tournament in Tonopah, Nevada.
- It was stated there were 34 participants for the Doubles Tournament on Saturday, August 27, 2005. Mention of a $1,000.00 added purse to this year’s Nevada Championships to be held on Sunday, August 28, 2005, was made possible due to the local businesses.
- CHAR SCHULTE held discussion on the following topics:
- Internet website progress was discussed with options being:
- Websites L.A. which would cost $1,500.00
- Steve Summerlin, NHPA Webmaster, which would cost nothing, but may cause problems in the future as had happened in the past due to obsolete software and lack of support.
- LOIS PRIHEPA motioned to use Steve Summerlin and worst case scenario pay for a website later. DICK HERDT second the motion. There was a unanimous vote.
- ByLaws ARTICLE VI: Section 2. and ARTICLE IX: Section 1. were discussed for changes.
ARTICLE VI: Section 2.
DAVE CHEYNE proposed to enforce ByLaw ARTICLE VI: Section 2. as it reads.
The vote was unanimous.
- ARTICLE IX: Section 1
DON WEAVER motioned to allow each Tournament Director to set their own entry fee.
DAVE CHEYNE second the motion to eliminate a stated entry fee. The vote was unanimous.
- CHAR SCHULTE passed around copies of the 04-05 Financial Report. DAVE CHEYNE motioned to accept the 04-05 Financial Report as presented. NEAL SCHULTE second the motion. The vote was unanimous.
- 2005 State Championships count is the highest to date at 40 participants. The adult member count was stated at 120 with a decline of junior members from previous year totaling 4, 2 in Tonopah - 1 in Las Vegas - 1 in Schurz, due to age changes and becoming adult members.
- CHAD HYATT questioned having a Publicity Chairman. DAVE CHEYNE nominated CHAD HYATT to fill the position. GAIE SHOMAN second the nomination. DON WEAVER appointed the Publicity Chairman Position to CHAD HYATT.
- DON WEAVER stated he had schedule details for 2005 Halloween Tournament in Beatty, Nevada.
- Venues for the 2006 Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Championships were put on the table. JIM COSTA moved to have the 2006 Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Championships held in Tonopah. SCOTT HARDY seconds the motion. No other locations were put up for voting. The vote was unanimous to put the Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Championships in Tonopah in the year 2006. The 2006 Nevada State Horseshoe Pitching Championships will be held the last weekend in August before Labor Day on August 27, 2006, with a HI-LO Doubles Tournament the day before on August 26, 2006.
- Elections for President and a Northern Vice President were opened for nominations. NEAL SCHULTE nominated DON WEAVER for President. SCOTT HARDY seconds the nomination. DON WEAVER received a unanimous vote for President. JIM COSTA nominated ELAINE PERRY for Northern Vice President. JOHN BARNEY SR seconds the nomination. ELAINE PERRY received a unanimous vote for Northern Vice President.
- DON WEAVER recognized other non Nevada members for their attendance and help in the Nevada State Championships to make it a success as always.
- DON WEAVER asked for further business. There was no further business for discussion.
FRANK BLAZEK motioned to adjourn the meeting. SCOTT HARDY seconds the motion.
