Meeting Minutes
Three (3) non-member significant others
LOCATION: Burro Inn; Beatty, Nevada
DATE: August 24, 2002
· DON WEAVER opened the meeting passing out the 2001-2002 Financial Report for review and approval. NANCY BUSHMA motioned to approve the Financial Report. ANITA MATHIEU seconds the motion.
· DON WEAVER introduced all of the officers present and their significant others. A round table had each member introduce themselves and their significant others.
· Mention of Nevada’s membership count is currently at 103 members.
· Format for the 2002 Nevada State Horseshoe Championships would include 13 men, 12 women, 7 elders, and 2 juniors. Check-in is to take place before 6:30am, 8/25/02, and tournament play to start at 7:00am. Comments included the reason play was scheduled so early was to accommodate a 5.5 to 6.5 hour journey to Reno. No objections were made.
· SCOTT HARDY motioned that the rule to have 2 sanctioned tournaments prior to Nevada State Championships, voted on in 2001, be modified to just being in NATSTATS. JIM COSTA second the motion. A unanimous vote showed all in favor.
· DON WEAVER announced that 2003 was an election year for officers. He would like others to consider and/or think about replacing him as President.
· DON WEAVER explained why there was no progress in the creation of the Nevada State By-Laws and Standing Rules. CHAR SCHULTE has taken on the task of creating Nevada State By-Laws and Standing Rules and asked for assistance of at least two other members besides herself and DON WEAVER, President. SCOTT HARDY, JEANNIE FAISS, ELAINE PERRY, DON FAISS, LOIS PRIHEPA, NANCY BUSHMA, and HAL HOLBROOK volunteered to assist.
· Proposals for the 2003 Nevada State Horseshoe Championships location were put on the table. Don Weaver stated Tonopah was very interested in holding the Nevada State Horseshoe Championships once again but questionable due to no response. DON WEAVER explained having the Nevada State Horseshoe Championships in Las Vegas or Reno, Nevada, was unrealistic. DON WEAVER stated and proposed that if Tonopah was not interested, the 2003 Nevada State Horseshoe Championships would be held in Hawthorne. A vote (16-6) selected Tonopah, Nevada, as first choice for the 2003 Nevada State Horseshoe Championships’ location over Hawthorne, Nevada. Beatty, Nevada was not considered in order to accommodate North one year and South the next year.
· The 2003 Nevada State Horseshoe Championships will be held the last weekend in August before Labor Day. The date is August 24, 2003.
· SCOTT HARDY motioned to adjourn the meeting. NANCY BUSHMA second.
