M.H.P.A. Fall Meeting Minutes

September 05, 2009 7:00 – 8:00 pm

Officers in Attendance: Doug Bailey, Judy Dennis, Roger Higgins, Ron Kohn


Ron Kohn called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.


  1. Minutes for the Spring Meeting, read by Roger Higgins. Motion to approve minutes by Irvin Armstrong; Gary Dennis seconded. Membership approved.

  2. Financial Report by Roger Higgins

  • Income total $7,739.00

  • Expenditures $5,879.87

  • Net $1,859.13

  • Account Balance as of September 05, 2009 total 5,060.09

  • Junior Scholarship Fund as of September 05, 2009 $1,901.25

  • Motion to place the report on file for Audit made by Bob Wells, seconded by Pat Card Membership accepted.

  1. First Vice President, Judy Dennis nothing to report at this time.

  2. Second Vice President, Doug Bailey no Grievances at this time.

  3. Secretary/Treasurer Report by Roger Higgins

  • 234 Total Members To- Date

  • 126 40’ Men

  • 27 Women

  • 54 30’ Men

  • 15 Jr. Boys

  • 5 Jr. Girls

  • 26 New Members

  1. Audit and Finance Report read by Bob Wells. He stated that the checking account was balanced and all receipts where in order.

  2. There was no unfinished business

  3. New Business

  • Dewey Howard made a motion to accept the new logo; seconded by Rich Beckley. Passed by majority vote.

  • Roger Higgins made a motion to pass the updated Constitution and Bylaws packet; seconded by Keith Schafer. Passed by majority vote.

  • Ron Kohn reported that Grand Rapids is still interested in bidding on the 2012 World Tournament, but are still considering the up-front expenditures. We are waiting for Grand Rapids to make the initiative and approach the NHPA.

  1. Report of Good and Welfare: Bob Wells reported $4,439.00 has been raised this year. Mike Ardelean raised $3.938.00, $48,155.00 total has been raised to-date. Bob Wells is stepping down as St. Jude Coordinator and Keith Schafer will be taking over the position.

  2. Hall of Fame Chairperson, Dewey Howard Reported two people are going into the Hall of Fame.

  3. Publicity Chairperson, Mark Wolffradt Nothing to report

  4. Regional Director, Steve Summerlin Nothing to report

  5. Election of Officers, Gary Dennis nominated Roger Higgins for secretary/treasurer no other nominations were made. Roger accepted and won by acclamation. Doug Bailey nominated Judy Dennis for 1st. Vice President no other nominations were made. Judy accepted and won by acclamation.

  6. Motion to adjourn the meeting made by Pat Card seconded by Dewey Howard
