WSHPA Spring Meeting, March 28, 1999 Hartland, MI The meeting was called to order by president, Dave Loop at 1:00 PM The minutes of the State Championship meeting were read by Steve Summerlin. Fred Boller made motion to accept minutes as read. Seconded by Jeff Mohr. Marty Quillen, Treasurer, gave the financial report stating that there is $5037 in the treasury. Presidents memorandum: A donation of $100 was made to the NHPF in memory of Lee Jacobs this year and a donation of $50 per year each year hereafter. Proposals for changes to Constitution and By-Laws were submitted to 1st Vice President Paula Summerlin and the proposals read as follows: Proposal 1. Add this to Section 12: "If a class consists of only 5 players that they be allowed to pitch to 40 points." The 20% pitcher rule would remain the same. Proposal 2. Add this to Section 4: The indoor tournaments held in Jackson are considered "special" tournaments and have a different prize money breakdown. Hall of Fame Committee reported that the current "Hall of Fame Book" will be full at the end of this year and will then be bound and a new book will be opened in 2000. Tournament Director Chair Fred Boller had nothing new to report Membership Chair Steve Summerlin reported membership had increased slightly last year and 7 new members have already joined in 1999. Bob Mullenhour, Co-Publicity Director reminded members that he had not received the information for their local newspapers and other media information. Dean Schmitz, Co-Publicity Director gave information on how to publicize your Local Club and showed many of the possibilities of publicity.. including use of the internet in creating Web sites for the local clubs.. He also stated that the WSHPA brochure has been completed and 5000 copies have been printed free of charge by Berkley Printing. Steve Summerlin also on the subject of Publicity stated that we have 4 of our 15 clubs with active websites and encouraged all clubs to pursue this to get information out to the public. New Business: Steve Summerlin reported that the Association now has a Hall of Fame Patch for its members. These will be distributed to current members of the Hall of Fame and additional patches will be available for purchase at a cost of $2.50 each. A WSHPA embroidered patch has also been ordered and will be distributed, one to each member with additional patches available at $2.00 each.
