Ed started pitching horseshoes on the farm near Plymouth. Mi. Ed started pitching on clay courts in 1982 in the state of Florida. ED also joined the NHPA at this time and started pitching in tournaments. He pitched in about 18 tournaments a year for 10 years.

Ed pitched in a sanctioned league in Florida and accomplished the following:
Sixth highest point game nationally with 135 points and Men's 4th highest Ringer Game with an 86%. He won most improved pitcher in 1983. He went from 30% to 52%
He won most improved pitcher in 1984. He went from 52% to 63%

Ed pitched in the Romulus league and was the Romulus League Champion in 1987.

Ed won a tournament in Brown City in Class A. In a game against Paul Wishon, he pitched 21 out of 22 shoes, with 17 in a row.

Ed has pitched in 9 World Tournaments. He finished in the top 10 of his class 7 times

Ed won a class championship in the first tournament that be entered, and be won the last tournament that he entered. This tournament was at Lapeer.

Ed was also very active in the activities of the Romulus Horseshoe Club. He helped in forming the club.
