Marv started playing horseshoes in 1978. He also joined the WSHP A and NHP A at the same time.

Marv served as Chairman of the WSHPA Nominating and Election Committees.

Marv served as Chairman of the WSHPA Committee to determine guidelines to select Lifetime members.

Marv has been to the World Tournament 3 times and placed 3rd in the Elders division.

Marv has attended the Mid - West Tournament several times.

Marv has been to North Carolina for the Dogwood Tournament 2 times.

Marv has been to Pennsylvania for the Eastern National Tournament.

Marv has been to New York State for the Eastern National Tournament.
Marv has been to Ohio for the Ringer Classic almost every year since he started pitching.

Marv has not missed a Friendship Tournament since he started pitching horseshoes 20+ years.

Marv along with his wife Dorothy have supported tournament pitching probably better than any other pitchers during their career. They have pitched in 35 to 45 tournaments each year for 20 years.

Marv has pitched in the Curly Baker Classic in Toledo, he has pitched in the October Fest and Elmer Hohl Classic in Canada.

Marv proposed and had passed a number of Rules and By-Laws changes.

Marv was most improved pitcher in 1979 with a 17.9 increase.
He has won the following titles:
Class H State Champion in 1992
State Senior Class C Champion in 1992
Class G State Champion in 1994
Class H State Champion in 1995
State Senior Class D Champion in 1995
Elders Class D State Champion in 2000
Class F State Champion in 2002

Marv has every Round Robin card for every tournament he has pitched in since 1978. He also has every Ringer Report since 1978
