He also played in a league in Marquette for one year. In 1967 and 1968 he helped run the Junior League in Dimondale. In 1981 he was the Greater Lansing Area Horseshoe Club Secretary and ran the Men's and Junior Leagues. In 1981 He was the "Most Improved Player" in the WSHPA. In 1981 he was appointed to the Lifetime Membership Committee. He was the WSHPA horseshoe salesman for a year.
Fred also pitched in Class A in the State Championships in 1990 and 1991.1990 6-5 60.2% 4th 1991 7-4 61.4% 3rd Fred Was elected Treasurer of the WSHPA in 1987, he was a member of the Audit and Finance Committee. He was member of State Championship Committee, Chief Okemos Club-League Champion, Greater Lansing Area Club Champion. Second Class B-1 8-3 64.8%. It was 3rd highest average among the men's groups in the State. He won a Silver Medal at the Great Lakes State Games in Marquette. In 1988 Fred was Horseshoe O-Rama Tournament Director, and member of State Tournament Committee. Fred was elected President of the WSHPA. Fred was responsible for sweeping changes in the WSHPA that year. Fred served as president until 1995.
In a letter from NHPA President Dave Loucks he was congratulated for "outstanding leadership".
