Our pitchers come from all ages. Membership is open to anyone who enjoys pitching. The club promotes sportsmanship and enjoys a great deal of camaraderie amongst the members.
The club is sanctioned by the Michigan Horseshoe Pitchers Association and is one of the many clubs that collectively hold statewide tournaments each weekend throughout the year; indoors and outdoors.
League scoring is done on a handicapped basis so no matter what your skill level is; you will never be at a disadvantage. All points are counted (there is no cancellation) so you keep every point you earn. A ringer counts as three points and a shoe landing within six inches of the stake is counted as one point.
Every night of league play, you are matched with two other players and assigned a court. While one person keeps score the other two players begin by tossing two shoes apiece at the stake. Play continues until each player has pitched 40 shoes, which constitute a game. You play each person twice and therefore four games total.
Each week results are collected and tabulated. Standings, ringer percent, winning percent and handicaps are distributed so players can track their progress.
There are 15 weeks scheduled for the season. . Cost information is provided on the "To Join" page.
Following the season there is an awards banquet. There, individuals are recognized for their achievements. It is a fun time for all and you are invited to bring a guest.
