| Our Season Format
The Brighton Horseshoe Pitcher's Club is a recreational horseshoe pitching league open to men, women and junior horseshoe pitches of all ages. We pitch at the Scranton Middle School in Brighton, on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM, May through August. The season is divided into two halves. You may pitch in either or both halves:
DOUBLES LEAGUE: Pitchers will be categorized into one of three groups (A, B or C) based on skill level. Players may be re-categorized anytime during the season if their skill level changes. Players from category A will be teamed up with players from category C, and category B players will be teamed up with other category B players. Teams will be established each week by a draw, depending on who shows up to pitch. Teams will play a 'round robin' format, so each team will play all the other teams every week. Cost to pitch is $3 per evening, with all monies going to prize money. Prize money will be paid for the top 3 teams for that evening. Payout will be dependent on the number of players pitching that particular evening. SINGLES LEAGUE: This is a handicapped league. Handicap is 90%, and is based on your individual pitching average. Games are 40 SHOES per player, using "Count-All" format. 3 pitchers will be assigned to a court. Players play each other twice, with 3rd player keeping score. Pitching and courts assignments will be established each week by a draw, depending on who shows up. 2 points are awarded for a WIN. 1 point is awarded for a tie. No points awarded for a loss. Player stats will be kept for won/loss, points and ringer percent. Come join the fun. New pitchers are welcome to join at anytime during the season. Please call 810-227-6847 if you are interested in joining the league, or if you have any questions or would like additional information. |
